      Simone Zaza

Italian international striker Simone Zaza offers power and pace to Massimiliano Allegri’s options in the final third.

The left-footed forward, born in Policoro on 25 June 1991, began his professional career at the tender age of 17, when he made his first-team debut for Atalanta, before signing a four-year contract with Sampdoria two years later in 2010.

Loan moves to Juve Stabia and Viareggio preceded his explosion on to the scene at Ascoli, where 18 goals in 36 appearances attracted the attentions of Juventus, who promptly swooped to acquire his services from Sampdoria.

A co-ownership deal with Sassuolo ensured Zaza’s stock would continue to rise in Serie A, with his nine goals and boundless energy playing a crucial part in the Neroverdi’s miraculous escape from relegation in 2013/14.

Last season saw the dynamic forward remain on the goal trail as a return of 11 strikes in 31 top flight appearances contributed to a comfortable 12-placed finish for Eusebio Di Francesco’s men.

On the international front, Zaza has featured on five occasions since his debut against the Netherlands on 4 September 2014, scoring his maiden goal in the Azzurri’s opening Euro 2016 qualifier with Norway five days later.
