After beginning his professional football career with Udinese in 1982, Maurizio Trombetta returned to the club for the first of several spells over a decade later, assuming control of the Allievi side in 1994. He then stepped up to assist Giovanni Galeone during the senior team’s 1995/6 promotion-winning season, before their partnership continued with stints at Perugia and Napoli.
In 1998, he returned to Udine, linking up with Francesco Guidolin, with whom he would also spend five years at Bologna. He first worked with Massimiliano Allegri in 2006, when they both formed part of the returning Galeone’s new-look backroom staff at the Stadio Friuli.
Since then, Trombetta has gone on to become a manager in his own right at Sevegliano (2007-08) and Romanian clubs FC Cluj and FCM Târgu Mureș, before coaching Reggina’s Primavera outfit.
