From 1 July, 2024, Paulina Krumbiegel will be a new Juventus Women player, having signed a contract with the Bianconere until 2026.
Upon putting pen to paper to seal her move, Paulina spoke for the first time as a Bianconera.
“First of all I’m very happy to be here, I’m very excited," she said. "It’s been a busy day but a good one, from the medical earlier to the photos now, but I’m very excited and looking forward to getting to work with my new teammates.”
Until now, Paulina’s career has been played exclusively in Germany, but her curiosity has taken her away from her home country and to Italy. She showed no hesitation when the call from Juventus arrived.
“I wanted to take the chance to play abroad and to experience another culture, another competition and another league. Juventus is a great club with a lot of ambition, it’s a club in the Champions League after qualifying for the preliminary stages for next season. I want to win trophies here.”
Paulina then gave us some insight as to what we can expect from her on the pitch, and discussed what differences she expects in Italian football compared to German football.
“German football is very structured, Italian football is maybe a little bit more free, a little bit more ‘emotional’ I think. Playing in Italy is something that will allow me to add something to my game, and that’s also something that contributed to my choice to come here.
“I like playing at right-back, I like having the game in front of me and being able to create things from deep, but I also like the defensive side of the game too. I’ve played as a winger before as well and I’ve learned to be versatile over the years, so I hope that I can help my new team.”
Turning her attention to Juventus, Paulina told us what she wants to achieve with the club, but also her personal goals in Italy.
“Firstly I want to settle in, to learn Italian - of course that’s a goal [laughs]. I want to get to know the team, the staff, the whole mentality of the club, and then I want to play matches, to get minutes under my belt and, at the end of the season, to win trophies.”
Before wrapping up, she had some words on her new home, Turin.
“I was here once before for the Women’s Champions League final [in 2022]. We had a day and a half in the city, so I know it’s a very beautiful city. I’m looking forward to getting to know it more.”
