Paul Pogba enjoyed a scintillating introduction to life in Serie A, winning the hearts of the fans with a string of sensational performances in the middle of the park.

The 20-year-old, plucked from Manchester United’s youth academy on a free transfer in the summer, experienced an unforgettable debut campaign in Turin, making 27 appearances and scoring five goals, one every 346 minutes played.

His ability to produce the spectacular, particularly from long range, prompts Bianconeri supporters to cry “shoot” whenever he strides menacingly towards the penalty area.

Four of Pogba’s five championship goals have stemmed from outside the box, while a closer statistical analysis shows he has hit the target from 17 of his 51 long range attempts, producing a success rate of 33.3%.

The Frenchman's all-action style and elegance on the ball means he is constantly involved in the play. Throughout the championship campaign, he completed 861 of his attempted 1038 passes, 717 of which were made in the opposition half.
