Stephan Lichtsteiner enjoyed another resounding season on the right-hand side of the Bianconeri’s midfield five, offering a reliable presence in both defensive and attacking phases.

A spirited full-back by trade, Lichtsteiner, who made 28 appearances and featured for a total of 2074 minutes, demonstrated his defensive capabilities by winning 75.5% of all tackles contested, the best percentage of the entire squad.

But it is in the final third where the ‘Swiss Express’ really comes into his own, registering the highest number of crosses, 127, almost 40 more than nearest contender Sebastian Giovinco.

Venturing further forward, the 29-year-old displayed his ability to catch opposition defensive unawares with late bursts from deep, resulting in an overall total of four goals for the season.

The statistics show Lichtsteiner to be a sharp operator in the penalty area, finding the target seven times from his total of 19 shots on goal, while also laying on two assists for fellow team-mates.
