The league season ended less than a month ago but it's already time to start thinking about the coming campaign. The Lega Serie A has announced the dates for the 2014/15 season, when Juventus will look to defend their Scudetto crown for the third season running.
Serie A returns for the big kick-off on 31 August. Four midweek rounds are planned – Wednesday 24 September, Wednesday 29 October, Tuesday 6 January and Wednesday 4 April – and there will be six Sundays with no Serie A action. 7 September, 12 October and 6 November are set aside for international fixtures, 28 December and 4 January fall within the Christmas break, then there's another breather on 29 March for more international games. The 2014/15 campaign comes to a close on 31 May 2015.
This year's Italian Super Cup will take place just before the Christmas holidays. The Italian champions are due to lock horns with Coppa Italia winners Napoli on 23 December.
As for the 2014/15 Coppa Italia, the first three rounds are to be held on 10, 17 and 24 August. The fourth round begins on 3 December and the last 16 get under way in the new year, on Wednesday 14 January 2015. The quarters then follow on Wednesday 4 February while the two-legged semi-finals will be played on Wednesday 4 March and Wednesday 8 April. The final act of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday 7 June, with Wednesday 20 May set aside as an alternative date.
