An extraordinary spectacle befitting the occasion: there is no other way to describe the 120 minutes of action and subsequent penalties that held the gaze of the entire world on Juventus Stadium for last night’s Europa League final.
The plaudits go to Sevilla for the trophy lifted, while Benfica, defeated in heartbreaking circumstances in the shootout, deserve many congratulations for a game well played.
But none of it could have been possible without Juventus Stadium, the venue which hosted yesterday’s magnificent showpiece with such impeccably smooth running of the show.
A total of 49 flights from Seville and Lisbon carried over 8,200 fans to Turin’s Caselle airport for the occasion, while 900 stewards contributed to accommodating the 220 buses and other vehicles that brought them to the ground.
There were 37,000 supporters present in total, 33,000 of which were paying spectators, and around 400 journalists.
A UEFA staff of 150 and a 30-strong group of Juventus employees were assisted by 200 volunteers from the city of Turin and 120 cleaning staff.
And it’s thanks to all of their efforts that Juventus Stadium and its guests experienced a perfect evening, an evening to take pride in.
