Kwadwo Asamoah still awaits his first goal at Juventus Stadium, but this evening against Sassuolo he came perhaps the closest yet as he watched a header go agonizingly wide of Gianluca Pegolo’s post.
Joking about the chance after the final whistle, the 25-year-old said: “When I saw the ball drop into my path I was convinced I'd tuck it home, but that's football for you. Let's hope I manage to soon!”
It was a comment made with the Ghanaian’s customary smile, a happiness which no doubt stemmed from an impressive performance and an excellent win, even if a home goal does still evade him.
“The match in Istanbul hasn’t left its mark. Today we played a great game and helped each other throughout, as a great team should.
“We’re happy with the victory and with staying top of the table. We need to carry on like this, to keep on doing our thing without looking at our challengers’ results.”
