Kwadwo Asamoah believes the Bianconeri’s hard work during pre-season in Chatillon will provide the perfect foundation for continued success over the course of the 2013/14 campaign.
Speaking to reporters after a fitness-based morning workout at the Stadio Brunod, the 25-year-old began: “We’re working hard and it’s inevitable you’ll feel an element of fatigue, but we knew that already after last year. After all, this is precisely where our strength comes from: the hard work we put in during training.”
The Ghanaian midfielder, now in his second pre-season with Juventus after arriving last summer from Udinese, enjoyed an explosive start to life in the black and white stripes, netting a stunning debut strike in last August’s 4-2 Super Cup triumph over Napoli in Beijing.
It is a trophy that Asamoah is determined to lift again when the Bianconeri lock horns with Lazio at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Sunday 18 August.
“We’ll give our all to do well in both Serie A and the Champions League, without forgetting our first target, the Super Cup. We’ve brought in three excellent signings and if we work well together, without ever giving in, we’ll be able to enjoy a good season.
One of these new arrivals has particularly impressed Asamoah during the opening few days of training in Val d’Aosta.
“I already knew Ogbonna and saw many of his games last season. He’s a fine player, he’s not just good as a defender, but also intelligent with the ball at his feet.”
A central midfielder by trade, Asamoah’s versatility and dedication to the cause have been the fundamental reasons behind his resounding success in a left wing-back role.
And he confirmed he is perfectly happy to continue to play wherever Antonio Conte asks him to.
“Where I play is decided by the manager. I’m ready to play in any position – even in attack!”
