Juventus’ Ghanaian hero Kwadwo Asamoah is one of the 25 players in the running for the African Player of the Year prize

Currently awaiting the decisive second leg of Ghana’s World Cup qualifying play-off tie against Egypt on Tuesday 19 November, Kwadwo Asamoah has in the meantime received a personal boost in the form of being shortlisted for the African Player of the Year prize.

Highly dependable in midfield or in a more defensive position, Asamoah helped Juventus to lift the Scudetto last season and has been a key part of the success of a Ghana team who recently stormed to a 6-1 away win in the first leg against Egypt.

The Confederation of African Football has included him in the list of 25 candidates for the award, the winner of which will be announced on 9 January 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria.
