Stephan Lichtsteiner has satisfied the Bianconeri supporters’ every curiosity in a live #AskLichtsteiner Twitter chat held at the club’s training complex in Vinovo this afternoon.
It was clear from the huge number of questions that came flooding in for the “Swiss Express” (above all from outside Italy) that his fans have been missing him since the injury he picked up at the beginning of October, but while they await the wing-back’s imminent return he delighted them with some interesting answers.
The 29-year-old began by revealing his favourite goal in Juventus colours, tweeting: “I would go for the last one I scored, against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in the Super Cup final”.
Besides declaring Cafu as his idol growing up, Paul Pogba - a fellow French speaker - as his best friend in the team and the Champions League as his dream, he also gave an important piece of advice to young footballers: “Don’t drink or smoke, try to live a healthy life, be fully committed and always keep believing.”
After describing himself as “calm, friendly and relaxed” off the field, he confirmed that it’s a different story out on the pitch, where he’s “determined, combative, driven.”
That’s why, he said, he was sad to be confined to the sidelines for the Champions League clashes with Real Madrid: “It's always hard for me when I'm not involved and unable to make my contribution.”
He concluded by praising Roger Federer as one of Switzerland’s greatest exports, tweeting: “He’s unique and has enjoyed incredible success. He's the greatest in the history of tennis.”
With fans seizing the opportunity to ask their hero something they’ve always wanted to know in the same high numbers as they did previously with #AskQuagliarella, the club looks forward to providing a similar chance for the players to reach out to supporters around the globe in the future.
