A determined performance in Bergamo allowed the Bianconeri to chalk up their fifth straight Serie A success of the campaign, Atalanta the latest victims of an imperious run stretching back 12 league games.

Fresh from sitting out Wednesday’s win over Cesena, Carlos Tevez once again stole the show with a two-goal return, his fifth and sixth strikes of the season in all competitions.

But the plaudits also belonged to Gigi Buffon, who protected the Bianconeri’s eighth consecutive Serie A clean sheet by saving German Denis’ penalty just before the hour-mark, his second successive stop from 12 yards following last year’s save against Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris.

New arrival Alvaro Morata put the gloss on a 3-0 victory late on, heading substitute Roberto Pereyra’s cross home for his first goal since swapping Madrid for Turin in the summer.

Here are some of the main stats from last night:

3

Doubles for Tevez in the black and white stripes, with yesterday’s brace in Bergamo adding to last season’s exploits against Parma and Hellas Verona.

7

Shots on target for the visitors, from a total of 16 across the evening.

9

Recoveries performed by both Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio, whose steel and determination enabled the Bianconeri to seize control of the midfield battle.

16

Years since a side started Serie A with five successive clean sheets. Last night’s defensive shutout brings Juventus level with Parma, whose goal was protected by a certain Buffon in 1998/99.

59.8%

Overall Juventus possession, a figure that gradually increased as they got to grips with Atalanta’s intense start to the game.

93

Touches enjoyed by Giorgio Chiellini, who also made the greatest amount of positive passes (58).
