Andrea Barzagli put in another impeccable defensive showing during Juventus’ 2-1 away win against Chievo Verona this evening.
But speaking to the media after the final whistle blew on the Bianconeri’s victory, the 32-year-old was keen to praise the performance of his team-mates.
He noted: “We created a host of chances, and doing that against a side who just defend isn’t easy.”
But Barzagli also recognised Juve’s need to avoid the tendency to go behind and then require a comeback, saying “We have conceded first too often recently, and it’s not always possible to recover.”
The defender concluded by pointing out his belief that they will come up against a team with a different attitude in the derby with Torino on Sunday.
“Now we turn our attentions to the derby, but I don’t think Torino will only be thinking about defending. Last year they played their own game, looking to catch us on the on the counter attack. I think they’ll line up in the same way as us and go for it.”
