Napoli boss Rafael Benitez cites the right mentality as crucial to his men’s chances ahead of taking on the Bianconeri league leaders tomorrow evening

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has underlined how approaching tomorrow’s fixture at home to Juventus with the right mentality could prove crucial as they look to avenge a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Bianconeri suffered in November.

The league leaders have gone from strength to strength since that night at Juventus Stadium and now command a 14-point advantage at the top of Serie A, but the Spaniard believes his men can triumph if they perform to the best of their ability.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Benitez began: “Any team can be beaten. We won against Roma and Dortmund when playing at our best. It will be very difficult, but we know that it’s possible.”

“The key on our part has to be our mentality. We need to play with precision and quality, and having the fans by our side will help.”

But the Partenopei boss admitted that his men face a tough task in overcoming Antonio Conte’s side, the extent of whose success so far this season was something he hadn’t predicted.

“I wasn’t expecting there to be such a gap at this stage of the campaign. Everything depends on your squad: Juventus’ is the strongest, and that makes the difference.”

Tomorrow’s clash is a key game in Juve’s hunt for the Scudetto, but it’s also a no less important one for the hosts. A win could be a real boost as they look to better their current third-placed position, and Benitez concluded by underlining how the Partenopei are well aware of the match’s significance.

“We know that they’re a strong club, but we all want to win and pick up the three points. We all realise what this game means for Napoli.”
