Leonardo Bonucci has hailed the resounding response Juventus delivered this evening in overturning the 1-1 draw recorded in the home leg of their Europa League tie with Fiorentina to seal a place in the quarter-finals.
Speaking amidst jubilant scenes at the Stadio Artemio Franchi after the final whistle blew on Juve’s 1-0 win, the 26-year-old began: “We knew that we were going to have to fight for it, and Andrea’s goal was the crowning glory of a great performance.
“We did well to maintain concentration: in this kind of game there’s a risk of jeopardising everything in search of a goal, but we pulled it off.”
The defender concluded with a statement of intent as the Bianconeri await to discover who they will face next in their journey “home” towards the final at Juventus Stadium.
“When you play for Juventus the objective is always to win, whether it’s Europa League or Serie A. We’re aware of our abilities and want to go all the way.”
