Leonardo Bonucci was unable to hide his disappointment following the Bianconeri’s semi-final exit at the hands of Benfica, but says the team must quickly dust themselves off and look ahead to the next target.
Speaking at Juventus Stadium, the defender said: “We’ve shown that the best team doesn’t always go through. We go out with our heads held high, but we need to move on quickly and think about writing many other important pages in our club’s history. We’ll look ahead with positivity and the desire to clinch a third consecutive Scudetto.”
The 27-year-old believes the Bianconeri were ultimately made to pay for a lack of precision in front of goal and defensive slip-ups in the Portuguese capital.
He added: “We didn’t create a great deal this evening either, but in two or three moments we were lacking a bit of added cutting edge. It’s individual moments that make the difference, in the first leg we made too many mistakes in defence and in front of goal.”
