Leonardo Bonucci has held his hands up for the Bianconeri’s first goal conceded in tonight’s 2-2 draw with Galatasaray, admitting he was at fault for Didier Drogba’s 36th minute opener at Juventus Stadium.
With his back to the play, Bonucci attempted to usher the ball back to Buffon, only to see his attempted backpass intercepted by the Ivorian striker, who rounded the goalkeeper to put the Turkish Super Lig side in front.
Reflecting on the incident, the 26-year-old said: “It was my mistake, I thought Drogba was closer, I made a bad connection and underhit the backpass. Unfortunately in Europe you’re instantly punished. I don’t think these moments of carelessness come from a lessened hunger, we always want to win at Juventus.
“Unfortunately mistakes happen sometimes and making them as the last man means you pay a greater price. It’s a shame because we kept it pretty tight overall and conceded on the only two occasions we found ourselves stretched.”
