"It’s great to start out with such a big game because it throws us straight back into the action"

There couldn’t be a more spectacular way to begin the new year than Sunday's showdown with Roma. It might not be the easiest challenge, but it will certainly be one of the most highly anticipated. And Leonardo Bonucci, feeling rejuvenated after the holiday break, can’t wait to take to the pitch.

Speaking as a guest on JTV’s Filo Diretto, the defender said: "It will be a great match and it’s better to start off like this because it throws us straight back into the action. So far at Juventus Stadium we’ve always been able to celebrate when we've played the Giallorossi. But it's always a difficult game, and it means we have to go all out."

It obviously isn’t a decisive encounter for the Scudetto, but Garcia’s team is one of the steadiest and most aggressive rivals of the Bianconeri: "Roma have a good game and strong individual players. They’ll do everything they can to put a spoke in our wheel, but we’re ahead and it all depends on us. The level has risen in Serie A this year, so you even run risks when playing against teams down the bottom. We've got plenty of quality though and are well settled into our game. We want that third title in a row.

"It's a different Juventus this year compared to past years because we know we're a strong team, and because players have arrived who have allowed us to take that extra step forward. But we must never let go of that spirit we’ve always been known for, and the desire to win we've always had. It's that desire which can help us meet all our targets."
