Ahead of today’s training session at Juventus Center, Giorgio Chiellini thrilled Bianconeri supporters with an early morning appearance in an exclusive Google Hangout.
Joined by Jtv presenter Enrico Zambruno, the 29-year-old held a live question and answer session with the lucky winners of Balocco’s ‘Breakfast with a champion’ competition.
Before tackling the hordes of questions submitted by supporters, Chiellini sought to reassure his adoring public of the solid progress made in recovering from an injury sustained against Hellas Verona.
He began: “The calf is feeling better. Thankfully it wasn’t a serious injury, and I’ll look to recover as soon as possible because we’ve got plenty of games coming up in the next few weeks.”
After making his 300th appearance in the black and white stripes during January’s 3-0 win over Roma, Chiellini celebrated the impressive milestone by having his shirt permanently displayed at Juventus Museum.
Commenting on the achievement, he said: “Juve’s history has a particular appeal. Playing over 300 games in the black and white stripes represents something unique and indescribable.”
The popular defender went on to describe exactly how it feels to hear 40,000 supporters chant your name when the teams are announced at Juventus Stadium.
“It’s certainly a great feeling. We’re able to hear them during the warm-up, because during the game you’re completely focused and can’t enjoy the show from the stands.”
The club’s brand new home, opened in September 2011, has provided the unquestionable foundation behind back-to-back Scudetto successes.
And with the Bianconeri claiming 12 wins from the same number of Serie A games contested in Turin this season, Chiellini is left in no doubt as to the impact of being roared on by a sell out crowd.
“It’s something we saw right from the very start. Our stadium makes the difference, because it frightens those who need to face us.”
