Juventus’ midweek Champions League exit at the hands of Galatasaray was a bitter pill to swallow, but Antonio Conte’s men have got straight back to winning ways this evening against Sassuolo with their eight consecutive Serie A victory without conceding.
Speaking after the final whistle, Gigi Buffon praised the way the side have bounced back from seeing their European adventure come to an end: “It was a great response after Wednesday. It seems like it’s always taken for granted, but that’s certainly not the case and to win you always have to suffer.
“We were stung by the elimination, but know there's another trophy - the Europa League - which we’ll do our best to win in Turin.”
Buffon extended his personal record of Serie A minutes without conceding to 730 this evening, but Juve’s captain was quick to describe his achievement as a team effort.
“Credit all round for our eight straight victories without conceding. This also goes to our strikers, who are our first defenders.”
