The captain predicts a testing encounter at the Artemio Franchi tomorrow evening against a talented Viola side, calling for focus on the task ahead as Juve attempt to reach the Europa League quarter finals

Gigi Buffon has said that overcoming a Fiorentina side full of fine individuals and well led by coach Vincenzo Montella will require a focused effort on Juventus’ part as they look to seal a place in the Europa League quarter finals.

Antonio Conte’s men need to score at the Artemio Franchi tomorrow night after the Viola netted a late away goal in Turin last Thursday, but the Bianconeri captain believes that it’s still all to play for in the tie.

Speaking to the media in Florence ahead of tomorrow night’s 19.00 CET kick-off, Buffon began: “I don’t believe that one team has more to lose than the other in this kind of game.

“Each of us has to focus on the job at hand and hope to achieve the satisfaction of a win that will take us forward in the competition.”

Fiorentina have provided strong opposition in the previous two clashes contested with the Bianconeri over the past 10 days, and Buffon concluded by confirming that the talent the Viola possess will make for a real test of Juve’s European credentials.

“There’s no hiding from the fact that they have lots of international level players and a very capable coach, so of course they’re going to cause you difficulty. But tomorrow’s a different game and another chance for us to prove ourselves.”
