Martin Caceres wraps up the Bianconeri’s round of World Cup 2014 play-offs with another success as Uruguay secure qualification for the finals thanks to a goalless draw with Jordan

With a resounding 5-0 away win against Jordan in the first leg of their World Cup play-off, a goalless draw in the early hours of this morning was enough for Martin Caceres’ Uruguay to seal a place in next summer’s greatest show on earth.

The defender played the full 90 minutes in Montevideo, and will now have the chance to compete along with the many other Juve players whose national teams will be going to Brazil, a country where Uruguay lifted the Jules Rimet trophy in 1950 in what is still considered by many the greatest upset in World Cup history.

Following La Celeste’s draw, in the last game of this international break involving Bianconeri the 2014 tournament hosts took on Chile early this morning. La Roja were narrowly defeated 2-1 with Mauricio Isla on the bench for the duration of the friendly.
