Cuneyt Cakir will head up an all-Turkish delegation in presiding over Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg in Lisbon

Cuneyt Cakir has been designated the referee for Juventus’ Europa League semi-final away trip to Benfica on Thursday 24 April.

The Turkish official has previously taken charge of two Bianconeri matches in Europe, the first a 2-1 away win over Sturm Graz in the 2010 Europa League play-offs and the second Juve’s 3-0 Champions League triumph at home to Chelsea last season.

As well as prestigious fixtures such as the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup final between Corinthians and Chelsea, Cakir has also overseen the Italian national side on three occasions.

The referee will be supported at the Estadio Da Luz by an all-Turkish delegation including assistants Bahattin Duran and Tarik Ongun and fourth official Mustafa Emre Eyisoy.
