Giorgio Chiellini says the Bianconeri will have to prepare themselves for “the game of their lives” when they run out at Istanbul’s Turk Telecom Arena in thirteen days’ time.
The defender believes the team did exactly what was required tonight against an FC Copenhagen outfit determined to prevent them from playing their trademark free-flowing brand of football.
Speaking after the final whistle, the 29-year old said: “It’s a pity because we could have claimed more points from the other encounters and now it’s all to play for in Turkey. It will be the game of our lives. Today we put in a good display without being exceptional. They restricted our play and we weren’t able to bombard their goal with shots as we did in the first meeting.
“We were solid defensively, though. Their goal came from a dead ball situation, a scenario in which the Danes were able to make their physicality count. However, we did well to pick ourselves up and immediately regain our lead.”
