An ecstatic Giorgio Chiellini has hailed a well-deserved third consecutive Scudetto win which the Bianconeri fought for all the way over the course of an incredible campaign.
With celebrations exploding around him at Juve’s team hotel after the final whistle in Catania brought home the club’s latest league title, Chiellini began: “It’s strange winning it like this, but the important thing was reaching our goal as soon as possible!”
“We’ve fought hard through the highs and lows for this historic feat, and we’ll rejoice in all of the emotions of the last few months in the coming days.”
The 29-year-old defender went on to give homage to a Roma side who spurred Juve on to greatness, and who will host Antonio Conte’s men in their next match on Sunday.
“Our strength has been our refusal to write Roma off when everyone was considering the Scudetto already won. It wasn’t, and we couldn’t allow ourselves any slip-ups.”
Chiellini’s last words were dedicated to summing up an extraordinary campaign.
“It’s been the Scudetto of records. An incredible campaign with 93 points picked up so far, but there are still three games left for us to enter into the Italian football history books.
“We’ve deserved this, and now we have to thank Roma for pushing us beyond 100 per cent.”
