Antonio Conte has praised his team for banishing the ghosts of Wednesday’s Champions League elimination by extending their imperious league form with this evening’s emphatic 4-0 triumph over Sassuolo.
The manager hailed the Bianconeri’s quick response to their midweek disappointment but warned the “fierce” domestic competition means there will be plenty more twists and turns before Scudetto silverware is handed out in May.
Speaking to reporters in Turin, the 44-year-old said: “There wasn’t any need for messages, we’re all upset about being knocked out of the Champions League but we’ve moved on quickly, as you should do. We continue to enjoy an extraordinary Serie A campaign, today’s win was our 14th in 16 games played.
“But there’s still a long way to go and the opposition is fierce, just look at what Napoli did in Europe. We hope to improve, in the knowledge that this is the third successive year we’ve been fighting from the front.”
