"It was like target practice." A blunt but fitting description of tonight's match in Copenhagen. Antonio Conte was not happy with the 1-1 draw and nor would you expect him to be: he watched his charges dominate the encounter but fail to take all three points despite fashioning a hatful of chances.
The scoreline was a repeat of last year's fixture at Parken Stadium but, as Conte explained, there was greater reason to lament today:
"Nobody underestimated Copenhagen. It was even worse this time around than last year against Nordsjaelland. It was like target practice out there. I don't think we've ever created so many chances in a game since I took over. But you don't win unless you stick them away."
Looking to draw on the positives, the coach continued: "I'm happy with how my strikers performed tonight. They worked hard for the team. We opted for players with battling qualities to get at the opposition.
"It's a shame because with the other game ending the way it did [Real's 6-1 victory at Galatasaray], a win tonight would have left us in great stead."
