The snow may have stopped in Vinovo, but Juventus’ preparations for Sunday’s 162nd Serie A Derby d’Italia continue to progress at an increasing pace.
Tactics were the focus of today’s training session as the Bianconeri tested out the moves and strategies to be put into action against Inter at Juventus Stadium.
Antonio Conte was unable to outfox opposition manager Walter Mazzarri when the teams last met on 14 September, Arturo Vidal’s cleverly-aimed finish into the corner after Mauro Icardi’s opener meaning it was all square at the San Siro.
The Juve boss will have to make do without his suspended captain Gigi Buffon this time around, too, but Inter have won just one of their last nine league games and their top scorer Rodrigo Palacio is without a goal in 2014.
One area of the tactical battle which looks intriguing is in the air: while six of Inter’s goals in all competitions this season have come from headers, Juve are the only side yet to concede one in Serie A so far.
Fabio Quagliarella did not take part in today’s workout in Vinovo as he has been ill for a few days with flu-like symptoms.
The group will be back in training tomorrow, when Conte will take care of the final few details ahead of Sunday’s fixture in an afternoon session.
