Sebastian Giovinco produced a stellar showing in Trabzon this evening, setting up both goals, creating a host of chances (six shots, five of which on target) and getting in on the action all over the pitch, even in defence.
Speaking to Sky Italia after the final whistle, he confirmed that his satisfaction with the result more than made up for the disappointment of not managing to get on the scoresheet: “Yes, the only thing lacking was a goal to my name. I didn't manage it but the main thing was that we played well and went through.”
The forward seems to have struck up an instant understanding with Dani Osvaldo, even though the former Roma man has only been training with the team for a month.
Giovinco concluded by explaining: “We haven't played together much here at Juve but we have done for Italy in the past, both at Under-21 and senior level. And I think training together regularly helped us to turn it on tonight.”
