Udinese boss Francesco Guidolin believes his team will be required to weather a heavy Bianconeri storm when they host Juventus at the Stadio Friuli in tomorrow night’s 20.45 CET Serie A kick-off.
However, the veteran coach added that the size of the task facing the Zebrette against the team he terms the strongest in the top-flight will serve as strong motivation as they look to topple the league leaders.
Speaking to the media this afternoon, Guidolin began: “Describing Juve is simple: they’re a steamroller, the strongest side in the league who just keep on going.
“The level of their performances has increased constantly over the last three years and with the gradual introduction of important players the club directors have intelligently assembled a group capable of competing with the best in Europe.
“We’ll have to be able to weather the storm. Juventus get results, and the way they interpret games shows the players’ maturity and experience. No matter who they face, they never take the result for granted.”
There may be 46 points separating the first and 14th-placed sides, but Guidolin went on to say that the opportunity to upset the odds is an added motivation for Udinese going into the fixture.
“There’s a great desire to do well against Juventus precisely because it’s so difficult. For that reason it’s one of my dreams.”
Ahead of celebrating reaching 550 games as a Serie A manager tomorrow, the 58-year-old concluded with praise for his opposite number, Antonio Conte.
“It was fate that he would manage Juventus. He’s demonstrated over the past three years that he’s a great coach. It’s difficult winning the first time, but it’s even more so winning a second and a potential third. Hearty congratulations to him.”
