Antonio Conte welcomed six of the nine Bianconeri called up to represent their nations in the final World Cup qualifiers back to the Juventus fold this afternoon in Vinovo as he continued to implement his preparations for Sunday’s Serie A fixture away at Fiorentina.
Paul Pogba returned from helping France record a comfortable 3-0 victory against Finland, a win which saw Les Bleus secure a play-off place ahead of the 2014 finals in Brazil.
Italians Leonardo Bonucci, Gigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini, Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Pirlo, meanwhile, were all in the Azzurri squad to face Armenia, a game that was largely a formality since Cesare Prandelli’s men had already qualified for the tournament back in September.
Kwadwo Asamoah, whose Ghana side laid a very strong foundation in the first leg of their play-off against Egypt with an emphatic 6-1 victory, will join his Juve team-mates tomorrow, as will the two Chileans Mauricio Isla and Arturo Vidal, fresh from sealing automatic qualification with a 2-1 win over Ecuador.
Frenchman Pogba and Italians Bonucci and Pirlo - who all played the full 90 minutes in last night’s internationals - underwent a warm-down session this afternoon. The other three Italians, meanwhile, joined the remainder of the group to participate in their workout.
On the agenda were agility drills, technical exercises and mini-matches on reduced-sized pitches, the latter no doubt to inspire the competitive frame of mind that will be crucial when the Bianconeri take on Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi this Sunday.
Preparations for that game will continue in Vinovo tomorrow morning.
