Antonio Conte’s Bianconeri arrived in the capital on the back of a 12-game winning streak in Serie A, looking to make it a baker’s dozen up against Edoardo Reja’s Lazio in January 2014.

Juventus had not dropped points since losing 4-2 away to Fiorentina in mid-October, a run that also saw the Old Lady defence only breached on four occasions – a remarkable statistic.

The visitors started on the front foot and registered their first shot on goal through Arturo Vidal who unleashed a dipping volley following Luis Cavanda’s stray pass on eight minutes. The Chilean’s effort, however, cleared Etrit Berisha’s crossbar.

Lazio almost took the lead when Gigi Buffon miscontrolled Andrea Barzagli’s backpass but the Bianconeri captain was able to clear his lines before Miroslav Klose could nip in to score.

Midway through the first half, Reja’s outfit were handed another golden opportunity to go ahead when Buffon brought down Klose in the penalty area, with the Juventus goalkeeper given his marching orders by man in the middle Davide Massa.

Marco Storari replaced Kwadwo Asamoah to take his position between the sticks but was unable to stop Antonio Candreva’s well-placed spot-kick on 27 minutes.

The Bianconeri didn’t crumble however, and almost drew level just after the half-hour mark.

Fernando Llorente collected a pass from his strike partner Carlos Tevez before swivelling in the six-yard box and firing his effort towards goal which Berisha was able to gather at the second attempt.

Lazio burst out of the traps in the second-half, looking to put Juventus to the sword. The Bianconeri though were holding firm and received their reward on 60 minutes.

Stephan Lichtsteiner burst down the right flank in one of his typical lung-busting runs before crossing to Llorente who guided his looping header past Berisha and in off the post. It was a fantastic finish from the Spaniard.

That goal got the Bianconeri’s tails up and Conte’s men almost turned the game on its head when Vidal picked out Tevez – who had made an inch-perfect run – but L’Apache’s fierce effort was pushed away by Lazio’s Albanian shotstopper.

Down the other end, Storari kept the scores level with a tremendous point-blank save from Klose’s bullet header by tipping the ball onto the upright. A timely stop from the veteran in the final quarter hour of the contest.

Lazio went close again to snatching all three points five minutes from the end when Keita Diao’s curling effort beat Storari all ends up but cannoned back off the post, with the 37-year-old then smothering his body atop the ball to prevent any further chances.

Following the culmination of proceedings in Rome, assistman Lichtsteiner provided his take on an end-to-end encounter that could have gone either way.

Goalscorer Llorente also gave his analysis on a battling team performance from the Bianconeri which yielded a priceless point towards their title push.

#Llorente: It was a hard game with a man down, but even in that tough moment we showed our strength. #LazioJuve
