A comfortable October afternoon for the Bianconeri, who sealed a 2-0 win in the first half with a dominant performance they converted into goals from Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez

When the Bianconeri last met this Sunday’s opponents Genoa on 27 October 2013, a furiously attacking first-half performance lifted them to a 2-0 victory at Juventus Stadium.

It was a win which meant Conte’s men bounced back from consecutive defeats the Sunday before against Fiorentina and then midweek in the Champions League against Real Madrid to remain hot on Roma’s heels.

Rossoblu goalkeeper Mattia Perin earned his stripes early on, denying Fernando Llorente with an incredible save made by an outstretched leg as the Spaniard tried to put the ball across his body. But he couldn’t get near an Arturo Vidal long-range effort that flew onto the woodwork as Juve continued to get closer and closer.

It wasn’t long before the Chilean did find the net though, opening the scoring with a typically resounding penalty into the top left corner.

And with Gian Piero Gasperini’s men almost constantly on the back foot, Carlos Tevez made it two as he dipped to the side of his marker and lashed the ball low into the far corner.

The Bianconeri hosts ended the day tied with Napoli in second place, with Roma at this point still flying high at the top, and manager Antonio Conte was pleased with the result his men had picked up.

Tevez went on to praise the way the side had managed to transfer their work in training to out on the field at Juventus Stadium.

And Chiellini praised the efforts of Genoa goalkeeper Perin in managing to ensure the defeat wasn’t heavier.
