A peculiar day at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for the Bianconeri, who were seemingly untroubled with a 2-0 lead before a remarkable Fiorentina resurgence saw them eventually emerge 4-2 winners on 20 October

Juventus were given a reality check away at Fiorentina on 20 October after smooth sailing up until that point in the league, but the 4-2 comeback defeat would subsequently prove a setback that spurred them on to an outstanding run of form.

It was a puzzling afternoon in the Tuscan sun, the hosts netting four second-half strikes in a blur after Juve went into the break barely troubled at 2-0.

Aiming to build momentum ahead of their midweek Champions League appointment with Real Madrid, Antonio Conte’s men made a strong start at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, quickly fashioning a chance to take the lead.

Carlos Tevez made no mistake and the Bianconeri were 1-0 up. It wasn’t long either before a second arrived, Paul Pogba the architect this time as he showed his killer instinct in front of goal.

The Viola only mustered one shot on target in the first half, and even after the break Juve continued to be the more threatening of the sides, going close through the midfield maestro on one notable occasion.

But then things unravelled for the visitors, Giuseppe Rossi firing home twice in quick succession to level things, before Joaquin scored what remains his only goal of the season and Rossi tucked home a third to complete a devastating comeback that left the Bianconeri stunned.

Speaking after the final whistle blew in Florence, manager Conte was the first to express his surprise at how the game had panned out.

And Andrea Barzagli then reiterated the general sense of bewilderment to round off the post-match reaction.

You can watch the events that would go on to serve as the motivation for a run of 12 consecutive Serie A wins below.
