Stephan Lichtsteiner has applauded the way Juventus snatched a point in the 1-1 draw against Lazio this evening by coming back from behind to get a result for the sixth time in Serie A this season.
The hosts went close to extending their lead on a few occasions, but the Bianconeri spirit shone through, and it was this in particular that the Swiss praised in his post-match assessment.
Speaking to the media after the final whistle, Lichtsteiner began: “We had luck on our side when they struck the bar and the post, but we showed our character tonight.
“We’re aware of our own abilities and we managed to dictate the game despite being a man down. We played to win, but considering how the match panned out we’ll take the result: it’s a good point.”
After Gigi Buffon was given his marching orders for bringing down Miroslav Klose in the box, Lichtsteiner took up a position on the right-hand side of a four-man defence, an area in which he confirmed he feels at ease.
“I’ve played in that role during my career, I’ve got no problems with performing it.”
