The Bianconeri CEO makes the team's intentions clear ahead of Thursday’s crunch Europa League last 16 return leg against Fiorentina: “We want to go to Florence and win. When we play in a competition, we always aim to go all the way”

After witnessing the Bianconeri stretch their Serie A supremacy to 17 points with this evening’s triumph over Genoa, Giuseppe Marotta’s thoughts immediately turned to Thursday’s pivotal Europa League last 16 return leg against Fiorentina, a tie he says the team will be going all out to win.

Speaking in Liguria, the club CEO began: “We all want to go to Florence and win, that’s our goal. We’re certainly not already eliminated as some are suggesting. When we play in a competition, we always aim to go all the way.

“Fiorentina played well last Thursday and even if they didn’t create many opportunities, they made the most of the one they did have. They’re a side who play decent football and have performend well whenever they’ve played in Europe this year.”

With the task of overturning Fiorentina’s away goal at Juventus Stadium, Antonio Conte’s men will travel to the Artemio Franchi full of confidence after picking up three points from a tough test.

Reflecting on the testing encounter, Marotta added: “We knew we’d be in for a difficult match. Genoa played the game of their lives, with great intensity, but we stood firm and won through Buffon’s penalty save and Pirlo’s great goal.”
