Real Madrid cruise to victory, FC Copenhagen draw away at Esbjerg and Galatasaray are defeated by historic rivals Fenerbahce in their final domestic encounters ahead of the international break

The Bianconeri’s Champions League Group B rivals – Real Madrid, Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen – experienced mixed fortunes in their final league fixtues ahead of the international break.

Four days after sharing the spoils in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Juventus Stadium, Los Blancos romped to an emphatic 5-1 home victory against Real Sociedad. Cristiano Ronaldo continued his phenomenal form in front of goal with a hat-trick, with Karin Benzema and Sami Khedira completing the rout.

Over in Denmark, FC Copenhagen were unable to continue their recent upward trajectory as they were forced to battle back from Olof Mellberg’s first-half own goal to secure a point at Esbjerg through Rurik Gislason’s equaliser.

Meanwhile, it proved to be a Sunday to forget for Roberto Mancini’s Galatasaray, who lost 2-0 in their derby match-up with historic rivals Fenerbahce. Former Bianconeri midfielder Felipe Melo was given his marching orders in stoppage time.
