A group of nine of Antonio Conte’s men, including five Italians, will travel to join up with their respective compatriots ahead of this week's international fixtures

Nine Juventus players have been called up to represent their respective national sides in the final FIFA World Cup qualifiers taking place during this second break in the Serie A fixtures list.

As well as the five Azzurri set to feature for Cesare Prandelli – Gigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Pirlo – Frenchman Paul Pogba, Ghanaian Kwadwo Asamoah and the two Chileans Mauricio Isla and Arturo Vidal will also all join their national team-mates.

Italy have a weight off their shoulders going into these final two qualifiers after booking their tickets for Brazil early with September’s 2-1 win against Czech Republic, but face tricky opposition in the form of Denmark away at Parken Stadium on Friday 11 October.

In their final qualifier before next summer’s tournament, the Azzurri will line up in Naples on Tuesday 15 October against Armenia, who sit level on points with Czech Republic in Group B.

Pogba’s Les Bleus, meanwhile, face a friendly against Australia, before taking on Finland at the Stade de France. Didier Deschamps’s side have already guaranteed a spot in the play-offs, but Finland are only five points behind them in Group I and will not be easy to get the better of.

Asamoah travels to the Baba Yara Stadium to take part in a crucial game for Ghana. The Black Stars will need to emerge victorious from their play-off with Egypt to make it to Brazil, starting with the first leg at home on Tuesday 15 October.

Chile’s international fixtures during the break are equally important. Isla and Vidal travel to Columbia on Friday 11 October and host Ecuador four days later needing to win both if they are to secure safe passage to the finals.
