The summer signing to link up with Cesare Prandelli’s national side at their Coverciano training base after Andrea Barzagli pulls out through injury

Andrea Barzagli has this afternoon withdrawn from Italy’s international squad for the upcoming World Cup 2014 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Czech Republic after reporting the effects of Saturday night’s injury sustained against Lazio.

The defender, who departed the action towards the end of the second half due to discomfort in his left tendon, is to be replaced in the Azzurri squad by club team-mate Angelo Ogbonna.

The 25-year-old summer signing will now link up with Gigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Pirlo at the national team’s Coverciano training base to prepare for Friday’s clash with Bulgaria in Palermo.
