Gianluca Pessotto, ambassador of the ‘Non Fare Autogol’ project, spoke of the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during this morning’s visit to Turin educational centre ITIS Grassi.
The academy director follows Bianconeri defender Giorgio Chiellini in lending his support to the initiative promoted by AIOM [Italian Association for Medical Oncology], CONI [Italian National Olympic Committee], FIGC [Italian Football Federation] and FMSI [Italian Federation of Sports Medicine].
The programme aims to teach students the importance of respecting a balanced diet as well as warning them of the dangers associated with drug and substance abuse.
Speaking at the event, Pessotto said: “It’s important to have your own sense of identity. Sometimes, to fit in with the crowd, people harm themselves and their own bodies, instead of showing the required self control and ability to make choices. And if these choices enable us to follow the rules that allow us to live better, they’re the right ones.”
