Paul Pogba reflected on a whirlwind 18 months in the black and white stripes when speaking to Juventus Members during this afternoon’s exclusive video chat in Vinovo.
Since arriving from Manchester United in the summer of 2012, the midfield sensation has gone on to win a Scudetto-Super Cup double, lift the Under-20 World Cup and become a regular fixture of Didier Deschamps’ full international side.
Such a dramatic rise to stardom could be daunting for one so young, but as with each challenge faced on the field, Pogba continues to take everything in his stride.
Here’s a summary of today’s Q&A with the French talent:
Secrets to success
“What’s special about Juventus? Excellent players, like Buffon, Pirlo, Vidal… I’m happy to play alongside so many world-class names. They’re the best in Italy and I need to learn from them if I’m to follow in their footsteps and reach the very top.”
“Buffon is a true great. He’s got personality, experience and knows how to make his presence felt. There’s the manager, who always wants to win, and the whole structure of the club in general. There’s everything in place here and everyone is always hungry for more. That’s the strength behind Juventus.”
“It’s the best stadium I’ve ever played in, there’s a fantastic atmosphere. One particular memory is last year’s game against Bayern, when I could really feel every single fan right there alongside you.”
Best team display
“The game against Roma is a favourite of mine. We all put in a great performance and it would be nice to play every match like that. We had the right desire and hunger that was needed to win.”
Reaching the top
“I need to improve in every aspect. It’s important to be more ruthless and work on my passing and, above all, use my height to my advantage by scoring more headers.”
Eyes on the prize
"My goal is to win the Ballon d’Or. When you do something in life you want to be the very best at it. I know that I’ll have to make many sacrifices and work hard, but I hope one day this dream comes true.”
