The midfielder named player of the tournament after France beat Uruguay 4-1 on penalties in Turkey

Paul Pogba rounded off a superb Under-20 World Cup tournament by captaining his native France to this evening’s triumph in the final act against Uruguay.

The Bianconeri midfielder, whose eye catching performances also saw him crowned player of the competition, featured for the entire 120 minutes as both sides played out a cagey affair which eventually required penalties to decide the winner.

And Pogba led by example by stepping up from the spot to send the opposition goalkeeper the wrong way and put France in the driving seat with the first kick of the shootout.

His effort was followed by successful conversions from Jordan Veretout, Axel Ngando and Dimitri Foulquier as Pierre Mankowski’s young guns sealed a 4-1 victory on an unforgettable night in Istanbul.
