Andrea Zanchetta’s Primavera have made a triumphant return to their Vinovo training base following last night’s third historic Super Cup success over Lazio at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.
Led by captain Pol Garcia Tena, the young Bianconeri were all smiles as they disembarked the bus and filed through a celebratory guard of honour assembled by their academy peers.
Yesterday’s victory, Zanchetta’s first silverware after taking over from Marco Baroni in the summer, was the latest in a long line of Primavera triumphs since the turn of the millennium.
From 2000 onwards, the trophy cabinet has been significantly bolstered by one Scudetto in 2005/06, three Coppa Italia titles (2003/04, 2006/07 and 2013), six Viareggio tournament wins and now three Super Cup successes.
In addition, Anastasios Donis’ last-gasp winner means Juventus hold the record for the most Primavera Super Cup trophies lifted in Italy, following back-to-back triumphs over Inter in 2006 and 2007.
