“I’m very happy with this victory. I was expecting to win it tomorrow, but it’s just fine like this. Now we can relax a bit!”
These are the words of Carlos Tevez following the final whistle from Catania as Bianconeri celebrations broke out around him in the team hotel, each and every one of the Juve players exploding with joy for a third consecutive Scudetto!
The Argentine, who truly epitomises the grit, determination and desire to win that Juventus have showed throughout this campaign, went on to give his take on the extraordinary achievements he and his team-mates have pulled off.
“I realised after Monday’s match against Sassuolo that we’d made a fundamental step in the direction of the title with that comeback.
“The symbol of this victory is the team, not me or Conte or anyone else. We’re all the champions – all the players and the staff. Without them we wouldn’t have made history, so they all deserve congratulations!”
With 19 league goals so far, the 30-year-old’s contribution to the Juve cause in his first season at the club has been devastating. But Tevez remained modest until the end when reminded of his pivotal influence by journalists.
“I always work to try and ensure everything goes well. It’s a special day today – experiencing my first Scudetto with Juve is a unique feeling – and winning one like this, making history, deserves to be celebrated!
“I dedicate it to all my family, who have been with me every step of the way.”
