Hat-trick hero Carlos Tevez immediately sought to thank his team-mates for the part they had to play in helping him to sink Sassuolo with this evening’s treble in a 4-0 win at Juventus Stadium.
The Argentine assassin, who now has a total of ten strikes to his name from 16 Serie A appearances, believes the credit for his goalscoring exploits should be shared with those around him.
Speaking to reporters at Juventus Stadium, Tevez began: “I always look to play to the maximum of my ability, sometimes I manage it, others less so. Today my team-mates helped me out a great deal and this assistance is extremely important.”
The 29-year-old went on to reveal that that an element of soul searching was done in the aftermath of Wednesday’s Champions League elimination in Istanbul, and says the team’s psychological strength will serve them in good stead when tackling the remaining competitions available to them.
He concluded: “It wasn’t easy, because doing well in Europe was something that mattered to us. We spoke after Istanbul and knew a reaction was required. We’re Juventus and are aware of our capabilities.
“Our elimination stems from the mistakes we made in our first game against Copenhagen, but the disappointment’s now behind us. There are other competitions we can aim for and we need to focus on those. We’re a psychologically strong team and this is an important quality to have.”
