Juventus Football Club can today announce that Alessandro Matri has officially completed a permanent switch to Serie A side Milan.
Signed from Sardinian club Cagliari midway through the 2010/11 campaign, Matri made a promising start to life in the black and white stripes, hitting nine goals in his first 16 appearances, two of which came in a memorable 3-1 win over his former employers at the Sant’Elia.
The forward’s work ethic and positive impact in the dressing room made him an integral part of the Bianconeri’s 30th Scudetto title-winning season, during which he topped the team’s goalscoring charts with 10 strikes to his name.
And despite initially finding regular first-team appearances harder to come by last season, Matri’s dedication saw him force his way back into the fold and seize the opportunity with both hands.
A last-gasp December double - again at the expense of his old side Cagliari - ensured Juventus ended 2012 on a winning note, while the crucial opener against Celtic and a natural poacher’s finish at the San Siro provided further reminders of his prowess in the penalty area.
He leaves Turin with two Scudetto-Super Cup doubles added to his list of honours, having also made - and scored on - his international debut against Ukraine in March 2011.
All associated with Juventus Football Club would like to thank Alessandro for his efforts in Turin and wish him well in the future.
