Arturo Vidal expressed his happiness after setting the Bianconeri on their way to tonight’s 2-0 win over Bologna with his sixth Serie A goal of the season inside the opening 12 minutes.
The versatile Chilean, who had been tipped to replace Andrea Pirlo in the heart of midfield, maintained his usual position on the inside right of the midfield three and began by lifting the lid on the secrets behind his killer touch in the final third.
Speaking after the victory, the 26-year-old began: “I watch the ball and stay focused. Deep lying playmaker or inside right midfielder? That’s for the manager to decide, the most important thing is that the team wins.”
It could have been easy for the reigning champions to have their heads elsewhere with Tuesday’s pivotal Champions League meeting with Galatasaray rapidly approaching, and Vidal confessed that keeping his thoughts primarily on Bologna was indeed a tough ask.
He added: “I’m happy with how this evening went. It wasn’t easy to remain focused purely on tonight’s game, given our Champions League encounter in three days’ time, but every match we play needs to represent the game of our lives.”
