Ahead of this week’s first Europa League last 16 leg clash with Fiorentina in Turin, Dino Zoff has spoken to UEFA.com about the team’s 1989/90 season, a campaign in which he guided the Bianconeri to UEFA Cup success over the Viola.
Achieved courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate win on 16 May 1990, it was one of two trophies the legendary goalkeeper lifted during his two-year stint as manager of Juventus, preceded by a Coppa Italia triumph over Milan a month earlier.
“Those were extraordinary memories,” Zoff told UEFA.com. “Winning the UEFA Cup as a coach was something special. We also won the Coppa Italia with a great team. Great credit goes without a doubt to the players. We played a fantastic second half of the season and that year was full of satisfaction.”
