Massimiliano Allegri believes his team’s positive approach was the key to a solid display in this evening’s 5-0 triumph over a Singapore Selection at the National Stadium.

In spite of the inevitable troubles thrown up by a difficult pitch, Juventus looked confident throughout and created plenty of opportunities over the course of an entertaining 90 minutes.

Speaking after the final whistle, Allegri said: “We had a few problems because the pitch was in a poor state. The lads worked well going forward and got plenty of shots in. We allowed ourselves to get a little overstretched at times, but it was a good workout and we approached it with an excellent attitude.”

For the final game of the team’s Asia-Pacific tour Allegri elected to line the Bianconeri up in a 4-3-3 system, a move he believes will strengthen the options available to him as the season unfolds.

“It’s important for us to have another way of playing up our sleeves, thus allowing us to switch things up and have different options across the course of the season.”

Reflecting on the two-week pre-season tour as a whole, the 47-year-old believes there are plenty of positives to take back to Italy ahead of the next phase of preparations.

“We’ve worked well and it’s important that everyone’s in good shape. I was worried about the state of the pitch this evening and rested Tevez, Coman and Padoin. Now we’ll get back to work on 20 August for the start of the new campaign.”
