Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has outlined the importance of tomorrow’s game against Juventus and claims the San Paolo effect will be a crucial weapon for his side as they go in search of a second win over the Bianconeri in the space of a month.

Yet with 10 points separating the sides in the Serie A table, the Spanish tactician appreciates the strength in depth possessed by a “top rate” Juventus squad will make Sunday night’s showdown a tough proposition for his in-form outfit.

Speaking to the media in Naples, the 54-year-old began: “It’s an extremely important game for us and there will be plenty of excitement if we win. But we need to maintain a balance and take one game at a time. We want to win but are aware that we’re up against a team that is top rate, not just in midfield, but across the entire squad.

“Tomorrow we’ll be counting on the San Paolo effect. The fans are with us more than ever, something we’ve become aware of in the past few days. You can feel the enthusiasm and our supporters can make the difference.”

Key to earning a result against the reigning champions will be the performances of star men Marek Hamsik and Gonzalo Higuain, whose talents have been a fundamental factor behind the Partenopei’s recent eight-game unbeaten run following a slow start to this season’s Serie A campaign.

He concluded: “Hamsik has improved in recent weeks but I believe he can still get even better. We’ve seen what he and Higuain can do when working in tandem, and their team-mates know that they can be entrusted to pick out the best option when on the ball.”
